Gina Wild: Germany's first porn legend and TV star Michaela Schaffrath

Michaela Schaffrath (*1970) made German porn history as Gina Wild. The trained pediatric nurse entered the industry in 1997 after being discovered by Rocco Siffredi at the Venus erotic fair. With the legendary film series Gina Wild – Jetzt wird es Schmutz (1999–2000) she shaped an entire genre and received the Venus Award for “Best Newcomer” in 1999 and for “ Best Actress ” in 2000. Her uncompromising performances made her arguably the best known German porn actress of the late 1990s. In 2001 she turned her back on the porn industry and successfully established herself as a series actress and TV face (including Tatort , Big Brother talk show guest). Under her real name Schaffrath she later hosted shows and wrote a biography. Even 25 years after Gina Wild, her name is recognized in Germany as a synonym for a “porn star icon” who made the leap into mainstream television.
